Candidate Criteria
The Internal Medicine NRMP code is 2179140C0.
We are accepting six (6) PGY1 Residents for Academic Year 2027-2028.
The program accepts applicants from medical schools in the United States that have been accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or from a college of osteopathic medicine in the United States that have been accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
For candidates who have graduated from a medical school outside of the United States, the program requires a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates prior to appointment.
- The program requires a passing score for USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX Step 1.
- The program requires US clinical experience.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States or obtain a J-1 visa with ECFMG certification by July 1st in the year of the Match. Western Reserve Hospital does not sponsor visas.
- We require two (2) letters of recommendation. A chair's letter is not required.
- We prefer candidates that have graduated medical school within the last five years.
- We will review applications that signal our program in ERAS; however, a signal does not guarantee an interview.
