Western Reserve Hospital's ACGME Accredited Family Medicine Residency is a 3-year outpatient-focused program that provides residents with a real world family medicine experience.  Our goal is to prepare physicians for the delivery of exceptional and satisfying patient care while meeting the demands of today's healthcare system.

Mission: To prepare family physicians for the delivery of exceptional outpatient medical care, while meeting the demands of today's healthcare system.

Vision: For resident physicians to exemplify excellence in academics and patient care through guided autonomy, community involvement, individualized resident rotations and a robust didactics curriculum.

At the heart of our Family Medicine Residency program is:

  • Supported autonomy in the clinical setting, with residents confidently and skillfully seeing up to 10-12 patients in each half-day continuity of care session throughout their residency
  • Resident-driven educational activities focused on improving the health of the community
  • Dynamic didactics designed to help physicians face the challenges of today's clinical environment

Our 5 year 100% board passage rate continues to demonstrate the quality of our academic program. Residents engage in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives, weekly didactic sessions, journal club, and continuity of care sessions as part of their training. Incoming residents can choose a specialty track in sports medicine, women's health, manipulative medicine, or geriatrics. Detailed information on our clinical rotations can be viewed with our curriculum.
