The hospital’s scope of services includes in-house capabilities for managing physical and related emotional problems, with provisions for transfer to another facility when indicated. The emergency department physicians and staff also respond to all announced in-hospital codes and other emergencies. Western Reserve Hospital also works with local Fire and EMS first responders to provide authoritative medical oversight. Dr. Rudd "Sonny" Bare, Division Chief of Emergency Medicine for Western Reserve Hospital Dr. Sonny Bare is the Division Chief of Emergency Medicine for Western Reserve Hospital. He has served as Associate EMS Director for Bath Township and Medical Officer of the Night at St. Thomas Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. He has served in a variety of medical education capacities ranging from Emergency Medical Academic Attending at an urban teaching hospital and Level I trauma center to Northeastern Ohio Universities Medical School Clinical Emergency Medicine Instructor. Dr. Bare serves as a member at Large on the Western Reserve Hospital Medical Staff Leadership Team. Dr. Bare is certified for disaster management through Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Hospital Incident Command System (HICS). He has also received training for Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), shock trauma and hyperbarics and dive medicine. He attended medical school at Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine (NEOUCOM) and received emergency medicine and EMS training at Summa Akron City Hospital. He holds a master’s degree in medical education from the University of New England and has a passion for teaching EMS and medical mission/disaster relief trips. Rob Lewis, EMS Director Rob Lewis is the EMS Director at Western Reserve Hospital. A registered nurse since 1998, Lewis has 5 years of Intensive Care Unit experience as well as 5 years of Emergency Room experience. He has also served as the Western Reserve EMS Coordinator since 2005. Lewis is also an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Special Topics Instructor. He has been a firefighter paramedic with the City of Macedonia since 1999 and currently serves as Lieutenant.
