Western Reserve Hospital co-hosted a “Trauma in the Park” continuing education training session to help local first responders hone their response and rescue skills when addressing a trauma event in a more dynamic and challenging outdoor environment, such as our many parks.
In collaboration with members from MetroHealth and Cleveland Clinic, Western Reserve Hospital's Sonny Bare, MD, Chief, Division of Emergency Medicine and Rob Lewis, RN, EMT-P, EMS Coordinator, helped oversee the trauma training, which took place in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. 65 attendees learned necessary skills and procedures that they could apply during a traumatic event when faced with the potentially treacherous terrain of a park or wilderness area.
The 6-hour training impacted 12 different EMS and law enforcement agencies from across our communities and featured six learning stations.
