Western Reserve Hospital Senior Coalition, in partnership with the Akron Soap Box Derby recently hosted its annual Senior Day event to give local seniors a memorable day at the derby. The event gave attendees a chance to ride down the famous derby hill and visit the derby museum. Since many seniors participated in the derby as a child and others always dreamed of feeling the wind in their hair as the derby car coasted to the bottom, the coalition formed the event to return guests to a beloved time in their history and celebrate the derby through fun activities exclusively for seniors in the area. The event also featured an “Aging on Track Expo" where seniors visited members of our Western Reserve Hospital Senior Coalition and obtained resources pertaining to healthy aging.

The Western Reserve Hospital Senior Coalition is made up of over 100 professionals who have dedicated their careers to serving seniors throughout Northeast Ohio by offering free events for seniors in our area. The coalition allows agencies to get important news and information to seniors as well.
