The Hudson Senior Network hosted Western Reserve Hospital General Surgeon, Dr. Rick Gemma on August 14 for its weekly Friday Lunch Bunch event at the Barlow Community Center. Dr. Gemma spoke about hernia symptoms, concerns, treatment, and care. He also addressed the group about how hernias become increasingly common as we age, and how to recognize the signs early. Dr. Gemma explained the various types of hernias, how they are diagnosed, and today’s treatment options. Attendees also learned about precautions and steps to take to protect their overall health.

This event served as yet another community outreach endeavor that Western Reserve Hospital implements in surrounding communities to keep citizens informed, educated and up to speed on vital health topics.
