OVERVIEW:
Established in 1981, the Fire Department provides fire and EMS services to the City of Fairlawn. The department's first Fire Chief, John Gemind, coordinated and acquired needed resources to accommodate the growing community need for fire and EMS protection. Over the years, the department has grown to its current force of 16 full-time and 34 part-time employees. The department currently has an ISO Class-2 community protection rating and its 16 full-time employees are all state certified paramedics with ACLS training, State of Ohio Firefighter II certification, and possess a wide range of special training and education to meet the needs of the growing Fairlawn community.
