Dmitri Souza, MD, PhD, Presents at IASP World Congress on Pain

Dr. Dmitri Souza from our Center for Pain Medicine presented at the annual IASP 2022 World Congress on Pain in Toronto, Canada in September.

Dr. Souza co-presented during an educational session with other physicians, clinicians and educators to present the“Ultrasound for Pain Intervention Workshop: Musculoskeletal Structures.” The session examined pain interventions for areas such as shoulder, hip and knee, sacroiliac joint and caudal and ankle joint and nerves. Dr. Souza provided a hands-on workshop during the session and demonstrated hip and knee ultrasonography to diagnose and treat pain in these areas. 

Dr. Souza serves as Director of Clinical Research at Western Reserve Hospital's Center for Pain Medicine. He is well-published on the topic of pain intervention and holds leadership positions with several national physician associations. He performs ultrasound-guided pain management interventions that have helped numerous patients who seek the center’s capabilities to provide pain relief.

Dr. Samer Narouze introduced ultrasonography and many other pain treatment innovations and Dr. Souza noted that he is honored to be working with a healthcare leader in the pain field. Souza also shared that more than a decade ago, Narouze publishedAtlas of Ultrasound-Guided Procedures in Interventional Pain Management, a fundamental and groundbreaking book on ultrasound treatment in pain medicine that physicians around the globe have been fortunate to learn from.
