For patients undergoing total joint replacement surgery, there are often a lot of questions and concerns. That's why the orthopedic team at Western Reserve Hospital offers Joint Academy, a personal education session designed to answer your questions, alleviate your concerns and help you feel comfortable and confident going into your surgery. A multidisciplinary team of nurses, physical therapists and occupational therapists prepare patients for what to expect during their pre-surgical testing, hospital stay and recovery at home. Joint Academy at Western Reserve Hospital has proven itself with successful outcomes in patient experience and recovery.

The orthopedic surgeons at Western Reserve Hospital recommend that all total joint replacement patients, hip or knee, attend Joint Academy prior to their surgery. Because we focuse on total care including the patient's family, we recommend that you bring one guest with you to the class to learn how they can help you achieve the best possible outcome.

Once scheduled for your surgery, your surgeon's office staff will provide you with upcoming Joint Academy dates. Joint Academy is held two Tuesday's each month from 5 – 7 p.m. at the hospital. You will then receive a call the evening prior to Joint Academy to confirm your attendance.

If you have any further questions about our Joint Academy at Western Reserve Hospital, please ask your orthopedic surgeon. We look forward to caring for you before, during and after your exceptional surgical experience at Western Reserve Hospital.
