Summa Western Reserve Hospital recently appointed Carrie Gallo to its newly created position of Director of Ancillary Services.

Gallo has served in several capacities within the Summa Health System since 1991. Over the past two decades, she has served as Administrative Director of Quality and Resource Management (1991-1995), Manager of Lakemore Rehab Services (1995-1997), Director of Homecare/Hospice QI, Education and Regulatory (1997-2005), and System Director of Patient Access (2005-Present).

As Director of Ancillary Services, Gallo will direct the operations of ancillary services, including, imaging, laboratory, cardiovascular, neurology/sleep medicine and respiratory services. Gallo will also direct activities of Summa Western Reserve Hospital’s off-site laboratories.

Gallo earned a B.S.N. from the University of Michigan and obtained her M.B.A. from Cleveland State University. She holds nursing licenses in both Ohio and Michigan.  She is currently a member of National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM), National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) and Ohio Association for Healthcare Quality (OAHQ).

Summa Western Reserve Hospital recently announced the appointment of Cinderella Menhart, BSN, RN, CCRN, CMC to the position of Clinical Coordinator for its Intensive Care Unit.

“We are very pleased to announce the promotion of Cinde Menhart to the position of Clinical Coordinator in our Intensive Care Unit,” says William Arndt, Director of Critical Care/Emergency Services at Summa Western Reserve Hospital. “Her exemplary work in numerous capacities is truly remarkable and will serve her well in this new role.”

Menhart is a graduate of Ohio University and has served as a staff nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Summa Western Reserve Hospital for the past 15 years. She also serves on various hospital committees and is the past Chairperson of Nurse Practice Council.  Cinde is also an active ACLS instructor and maintains certification in critical care.

Currently conducting a nursing research project on patient care in the Intensive Care Unit, Menhart has also presented locally and nationally. Her presentation, The DURSE Program:  Enhancing Nurse-Physician Relationships, received the “People’s Choice Award” at the 2010 Nursing Symposium Conference. She is also the recipient of the “Cameos of Caring Award” sponsored by the University of Akron and has been instrumental in the formation of the Cameo Alumnae Association where she serves as President.

Summa Western Reserve Hospital uses the Shining Star program to reward and publically recognize “The Best at Western Reserve Hospital”.  Any staff member, physician, volunteer, patient or visitor may be nominated by others at the hospital to acknowledge their outstanding behavior and/or service.
