Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, May 8, 2019 – Each year Western Reserve Hospital celebrates Nurses Week in appreciation of the many men and women on its nursing staff that continue its commitment to improving healthcare in the region. Western Reserve Hospital honored its nursing team on May 6th (National Nurses Day) at an annual Nurses Awards Program, which recognizes nurses for their outstanding performance of nursing practice, leadership and education.
“Our nurses are shining examples of our collective commitment to the care of others,” said Dr. Robert Kent, President and CEO. “Whether involved in direct patient care or in administrative or support roles, our nurses are truly at the forefront of the care experience. Their strength, compassion and diverse skill sets is vital to our organization, and we can’t honor their work enough.”
Nurses from every department in Western Reserve Hospital were nominated by physicians, peers and other staff members for excellence in one of four categories – Cameos of Caring, Nursing Excellence, Physicians Choice and Rookie of the Year. A surprise announcement of Western Reserve Hospital’s Sigma Theta Tau honoree and Tenured Nursing Excellence Winner was also unveiled. Sigma Theta Tau membership is by invitation-only to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing. The 2019 nursing award winners include, Cameos of Caring Winner, Heidi Gross, 3 West; Nursing Excellence Winner, Greta Evans, Pain Medicine; Physicians Choice Winner, Patty Wolfe, Surgical Services; Rookie of the Year Winner, Alyssa Leppla, ICU and Sigma Theta Tau honoree and Tenured Nursing Excellence Winner, Cathy McNamara, Infusion.
