Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, February 6, 2019 – Dr. Robert Kent, president and CEO of Western Reserve Hospital, and president of Unity health Network, was recently recognized by the Summit County Medical Society with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Waleed Nemer, president of Summit County Medical Society, presented the award at an annual event in January.
“In creating Western Reserve Hospital, Dr. Kent held firm to his belief that physicians, and other clinicians, understood how to operate a healthcare delivery system better than non-clinical individuals. With this mindset, and previous success from earlier collaboration, he identified and placed key physicians in leadership roles of Western Reserve Hospital, ultimately leading to its well-known achievements,” said Dr. Nemer. “Dr. Kent’s leadership transformed the struggling community hospital into a successful, physician-led institution, moving a facility that experienced losses, respectively to a facility with a remarkable profit, creating a healthcare delivery environment sustainable for current and future market conditions.”
In addition to serving as the president and CEO of Western Reserve Hospital, Dr. Kent, a practicing internal medicine physician, serves as the president of Unity Health Network and Premier Medical Resources. He is an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award-winner and has been named to the Becker’s Hospital Review “Top 100 Physician Leaders of Hospital and Health Systems,” which recognizes some of the most accomplished physician leaders across the U.S.
The Summit County Medical Society was founded in 1842, with membership boasting hundreds of physician members along with organizational members including hospitals, health systems and physician groups across Summit County. The Society assists doctors and other healthcare professionals through education programs and member benefits that help contain costs while ultimately saving money for patients.
