It is safe, gentle and non-invasive, while supporting coping, overall health and healing. It compliments standard medical treatments by stimulating the body’s own natural healing process. Reiki carries no side effects and does not interact with treatment medications. It can provide support with any diagnosis, curable or terminal. Reiki is performed by gently laying hands on a person who is resting in a comfortable position (sitting or lying). No special clothing changes or equipment is required. To the preference of the patient, quiet and calming music may be played in the background. Lights may be dimmed. A towel scented with essential oils may be placed over the eyes. A suitable, healing affirmation may be offered to the patient (i.e. “I am healthy, I am whole.”) Benefits of Reiki: Increases functioning of the immune system Decreases levels of depression and anxiety Positive attitude toward healing Increased elimination of toxins Decreased levels of nausea and fatigue Decreased level of fear Increased relaxation Promotes restful sleep Elevates mood Increases appetite Decreases reported pain level Decreases reported isolation and loneliness Schedule an appointment Please call Western Reserve Hospital’s Infusion Center.
